Well, my eight year old has been looking forward to the next bad guys book ever since the last one came out. He was very disappointed. He felt like nothing happened in the book. They trained, and then when something was finally about to happen....the end! Even kids need a bit more plot line. You can't get away with just some jokes and the idea of superheroes.

My son really struggles with reading and, thus, it’s hard to find any book that he’ll willingly sit down with. This series has been a total game changer! He LOVES IT... and so, so do we! He’s read them all multiple times, brings them to school to share with his friends, and is always so thrilled to preorder the next one. Very funny series, well written and hilariously drawn, perfect for a 2nd/3rd-grader’s mentality!!

My 8 year old has loved these books since he turned 6 and we all look forward to each new release in the series! They’re funny and clever and well written and illustrated. This series is also great to get a reluctant reader started- not super simple but still easy to read, awesome pictures and definite little boy humor. My 6yo wasn’t super excited to sit and read chapter books but I truly believe these books opened his eyes to how fun reading longer books could be. Now, because of that, at 8 he reads constantly and can jet through one of these books in about 15 minutes but we enjoy them just as much as ever!

My boys absolutely love the Bad Guys. Unfortunately, this book lacked the fun, laughter, and interesting storyline of the previous in the series. I found it difficult to maintain the energy as I read it to my young boys simply because there was not as much action or interesting dialogue. In spite of being slightly disappointed with #8, we remain excited about the release of #9.

Like the previous books in the series, there is some potty language, but my 7 year old got this for his birthday and I think it was the gift he was most excited about. He’s read it several times and laughs out loud every single time. I love that this series has inspired him to read!

My 9 year old son absolutely loves this series and we order the next one as soon as it’s available. Lots of pictures and an easy read for elementary school kids. We read these a lot for bed time stories and I enjoy them with him as well.

Anytime he gets his hands on a new Bad Guys book, he finishes it within the hour. He is a huge fan. He does not like reading books his older brother was into, for whatever rivalry reason, so I'm glad he found a series all his own.

My first grader read the entire thing in one sitting. Then he wanted me to read it with him a second time (same day). Then he was reading it again this morning. Definitely seems a hit with the target audience.

#2,865,553 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Photographer Jim Argo has filled a gaping hole in our perception of the historic center of the Dust Bowl made so popular by novelist John Steinbeck ('Grapes of Wrath' and 'Of Mice and Men') and photographer Dorthea Lange who captured the 1930's drought and its consequences on the population of Oklahoma in indelible ways. Here in this well-designed, colorful book are landscapes and historic sites, celebrations, multiple ethnic groups (Indian dances, Asian festivals), and some little known monuments - such as the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, a majestic and haunting tribute to the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. Other famous sculptural monuments are included, such as James Earle Fraser's 'The End of the Trail', Hollis Williford's 'Welcome Sundown', Cyrus Dallin's 'Appeal to the Great Spirit', and Allan Houser's 'Sacred Rain Arrow', eah in the setting of the natural beauty of the state. But aside from all the art that is handmade, this book abounds in images of the streams and rivers, the plains and canyons and the remnants of 'the Old West' that will touch the hearts of all who peruse these pages. Argo's photography is terrific color work and he offers just enough written caption information to enhance the background of his choices of subjects. For those whose present concept of Oklahoma as a persistent Dust Bowl persists, this book is a revelation. It is as fine a memo of middle America as any similar book available. Although Mr. Harris may have had years of experience working for a credit bureau and the Credit Repair book he wrote has both excellent information and strategies for credit repair, some of his recommendations are dubious and could even result in charges being filed for submitting a false and/or frivolous dispute letter. I suggest getting credit repair information from a variety of sources so that you can make a more informed decision on how to procede and CYA also. This has been my strategy and in less than a year my score has risen 127 points. Buy this book and keep it as a reference to deal with the big three credit bureaus. May you fare well. JB

I chose the 5 star rating because this book gets to the heart of credit repair. When a person gets serious about repairing his or her credit, this is the step-by-step instruction for making it happen. Get it, do it, and teach others to do the same.

It has some good inside.

Really nice book!!!!

Poor grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Offers no information that we don't already know. Waste of money & time.

Good book with tips on credit repair.

Bought for a friend who had no knowledge of credit scores and he said he felt like it was a good book.

My family has a history of cardiac diseases. So when I came across with this book I never hesitated to grab it. I thought EKG/ECG interpretation is difficult to learn, especially for me who has no background in medical fields. But this book made it easy for me to understand it. The book is packed with information on how to read EKG/ECG result. It includes also the cardiac diseases accompanied by the abnormal EKG/ECG result. This is a very helpful guide to everyone who has concerns in their cardiac health and also to those who are in the medical field. I highly recommend this.

This book is self-published by the author, and has no editor listed. I have already found several mistakes in the first 10 pages, and I am leary to trust any of the information (example: "place the electrolytes" - instead of electrodes). I WOULD NOT BUY unless you are the type of learner who likes to double check every single fact you read. I'm sure the author means well, but do yourself a favor if you are trying to learn EKG and find a reputable source of info. I will definitely be checking publishing and editing information for my future purchases.FYI- I am a DNP studying for my ACLS.

Very good basic information for reviewing or for beginners BUT there are so many written errors that I would advise beginners to stay away from it because some of the terminology is misspelled and can cause confusion if you do not know the correct term. Obviously if you are experienced you pick it up and realize there's a typo, etc. I would strongly recommend to the writer to correct all the mistakes and then offer it because it does have good information.

This book really helped me understand how EKGs work and explained several of the details that goes into interpreting the particular waves. This book will make you familiarize with the EKG concepts. Electrocardiography (ECG/ EKG) has a core function of measuring the conduction system of the heart. This is a good guide and can be very easy to learn. So I highly recommend this study guide for all nursing students and nurses.

Though I never went to medical school I was always curios about health and medicals topics like artificial respiration, taking the x-ray and ECG, checking for diabetes, blood pressure , heart rate , etc and these are all based on my interest. Finally I found a book with detailed explanation on ECG and other related topics of the functioning and monitoring the working of cardio vascular system.

As a medical student who is currently taking a summer class in EKG, I was looking for a resource that had a better perspective outside a regular textbook. This book did exactly that and I'm glad I gave it a shot. The information was written in an easy to understand format and is perfect for beginners who are clueless or even a review for professionals in the health fields.

I took up a paramedical course but wasn't able to finish it. My interests in medical technology is still high. I want to read and learn more about everything in medical technology. I got interested with this book and the content was able to satisfy me. There are a lot of useful and relevant information here in this book. I like how it was presented with pictures. Now I have lots of information handy.

It contained a lot of illustrations and charts which really made it easy for students to follow and understand. The guide was well-written and the information was a good compilation and it had a lot of scientific knowledge and explanations. I'm impressed because this was one of the few detailed guides I have seen on this topic because of the illustrations it proved to be helpful for learning and reviewing for nursing students and physicians.

Its rare for an academic book to propelled you to your knees in raw, supplicative prayer. Thanks to Jennings, that's what happened to me when I finished reading The Christian Imagination. An intellectual tour de force, his beautifully crafted text narrates a journey of earth shattering revelations. Jennings provides an unexpected answer to one of our faith’s most troubling questions. Why has Christianity--a religion whose trajectory would seem bent toward boundary crossing intimacy and the formation of just social worlds--presided over, indeed led, so much of the oppression of the past several centuries, particularly toward people of color and blacks most dramatically? He locates the heart of his answer in supercessionism. The segregationist spirit that found its fullest treatment in America was first cultivated in Christians by our hegemonic colonial stance toward the world. This stance swapped Israel out for European imperial identities, and created a novel source of identity that exchanged land for bodies, continually evaluated against the totalizing glare of whiteness. That Christian performance has (on the whole) been remarkably abusive is fairly obvious to any casual reader of history. The agony of discovery in *Imagination* issues from its exposure of just how deeply Western theology is infected, and how subtle warps in our faith provided generous space for domination. Rehearsing the complex historical analysis Jennings offers is impossible here. What I want to lift up are the two primary theological motifs he offers as both the sources of trouble and the sites of hope.First, Jennings takes great pains to reassert Christian identity as Gentile identity. We are those who did not belong at the table, but like the Canaanite woman gratefully grasped for the crumbs that fell from it. The story that makes sense of the world is not our story, it is Israel's. Most importantly, Jesus is not a white male. He is Jewish, and scandal of his particularity provides the context through which humanity can be guided into communion. Desire for Christ and the experience his hospitable embrace enfolding our life into himself allows us to likewise turn toward neighbor with a new desire to intake their concerns and dreams as our own. This, Jennings explains, is the kind of border-line erotic intimacy Christian theology should cultivate.Second, *Imagination* uncovers a forgotten reality: before there were races, nationalities or even ethnicity, there was the land and one’s place within it. Identity constitution was dramatically reworked in the colonial moment when Europeans showed up on inhabited shores and claimed it as their own. As they left their lands behind, they carried their body with them as the central determinant of self and culture. In lieu of place, whiteness took on geographic proportions, becoming “determinative of the true (intelligence), the good (morality), and the beautiful (aesthetics)” (277). We lost our way theologically in anthropology, creation, and in all aspects of the missio Dei (for starters). All else was obscured as we became the God-men recreating the world in our image.I am immensely grateful to be introduced to this text at this moment in my life. It wove together many of the themes I have been tugging at over the past few years, bringing them together in much sharper relief. Jennings precisely expresses what draws me so magnetically toward this faithful following of Jesus, “There is within Christianity a breathtakingly powerful way to imagine and enact the social, to imagine and enact connection and belonging” (4). And yet time and again we seem to fall short. My prayer today is that his insights will bore into our collective unconscious, into our hearts, and seed there to inform our personal, communal and vocational lives that they may come to bear the fruit of genuinely generative love, a new social performance of our faith that breeds justice.

I eye roll when people say this, but truly this is perhaps the *most* important theology book that I have ever read. Jennings does an absolutely masterful job in articulating how colonialism and power in the west have insidiously shaped and permeated every facet of Christian theology in the last millennium. The scope of this book is truly awe-inspiring, but it is an artfully crafted theological narrative that every pastor and theologian should read and prayerfully consider. It is a heavy read, not for the faint of heart, but not inaccessible! Race and religion and power are all intertwined, coming together to form the limits and possibilities of our very fallen Christian imagination.

It is no small feat to unveil, with vigor and virtue, the provocative yet comprehensive theological development of whiteness as the supercessionist engine; Jennings has masterfully done so. With poetic craft and acute tact, Jennings unearths the scandal of colonialism and Christian mission: the boogieman of Christian imagination. Yet, like all hopeful theologians driven by the passion of God’s mission, Jennings revitalizes the Church’s high calling and identity: life together.cf. sooholee.wordpress

This is one of the best books on Amazon. It is unique and offers a perspective that is deeply informed and uniquely personal. Dr Jennings is a gem both in the way he has analyzed his life experiences and in the way he has thought deeply about others experiences. His understanding of humanity is worth the price of the book whether you are interested in race or not. I love the book for two reasons:First, because race is a borderline taboo subject in some Christian circles and we have few leaders who think like Dr Jennings. If you've ever thought deeply about race (including issues like racial reconciliation) this book is like a song. But if you have never thought about race, this book is a blueprint of humanity. It is an insightful autopsy of the human condition. I find it exhilarating to my thinking about social identity and racial identity. I really loved it. This book is definitely not for everyone, but if you're a deep thinker who wants to understand deep elements of human identity this is a gem of a book. If you're interested but not sure if you want the whole enchilada you can listen to Dr Jennings give a talk on this subject matter at [...]

My mind longed for this new imagination and could not begin to think it until I read this book, finishing just in time for “Columbus Day” tomorrow and, consequently, I will have more than just a social reactionary distaste for the holiday, but I will have some objective theological, Christ-honoring grounds for using the holiday as a day to mourn and to imagine hopefully. Thank you, Dr. Jennings, for this book. I only wish I had read it sooner.

This is an extremely important book that will help white Christians understand what is wrong with the white Christian imagination, with white privilege, with white Christianity.

Until I got a dog, I had never given a thought to dog parks. Didn't even know that they existed.Since I got a dog, I have come to understand the role that they play in the lives of both humans and canines. In this book, Gilbert paints an engaging and amusing portrait of life at the dog park. He captures the humor and drama that are present whenever groups of people spend time together. But his keen eye and breezy writing make this more than a "dogs are a metaphor for life" book. The little triumphs and affronts that we face in our typical day are brought to life with wit and compassion. This glimpse into the human condition, writ just the right size, make this book appealing to both dog owners and non-dog owners (who, if they are anything like me, will have their eyes opened to this amusing, yet tender, world).Gilbert's perspective is unique. For most of his life he was the opposite of a "dog person" - afraid of dogs at an early age and not warming to them in later life. A bit of a TV loving recluse, he was not prone to seeking out groups of people for sustained engagement. Under pressure from his husband to bring a puppy into their life, he relents and... enter Toby, a playful and adorable yellow Lab. He finds wet-nosed love and enters the dog park world with its quirky characters and strong sense of community.Lest that sound cliched, the story he tells of his gradual transformation into a lover of both dogs and humans is touching, written in a compelling manner and easily relatable. While the tales of dog park exploits are engaging, it is the author's own emotional journey that provides the real meat on this bone. This book is not -- thank goodness -- "War and Peace". It is -- also thank goodness -- a deft and readable story of dogs, people and life. A lovely read.

Matthew Gilbert has got it right and written it with philosophy and heart. This book is about dogs and people, but especially about their meeting in a special environment. Written in memoir style, the story begins in fall and ends in summer, covering the first year of his and his lab puppy's experiences at a local Boston dog park. Gilbert, a professional TV critic, puts his wonderful analytic skills to work on dissecting place, people, dogs, and emotions.

This book captured the easy friendships we make with other dog owners, knowing the dogs names and characteristics first and then venturing into daily friendships, sharing moments watching them run for the shear joy of running. My best moments were at the Sheepfold in the Middlesex Fells before it became an official off-leash area in an open field with no shade and little park maintenance. As users of the Fells we were, for the most part, respectful and kind, and accountable for our the poop! My Golden and I would roam the trails, play fetch in the fields, and sneak quick dips in the reservoirs. Thanks to the bird watchers who wanted the Fells to themselves, we too were on the lookout for those pesky angry park rangers - the haters - who started threatening heavy fines for doing anything fun off-leash. The old ways of having a joyful time at the Fells ended when our group had to start negotiating our right to even be there. Luckily Amory still has off-leash hours.

Was interesting to see someone go from not a dog lover to being one and enjoying watching all the different dogs in the park and talking with their owners in the park where he wasn't a very social person before.

Recommended by a fellow dog park person in Fort Worth. An amazing observation of life at the dog park, which mirrors my 10+ years at Fort Woof. Vivid descriptions of the dogs and people encountered during the author's first year of dog park life. Well worth a read.

Having been a newbie at a dog park, I could fully relate to all the fascinating interactions with both the people and the dogs that the author encounters in his forays into the mysterious ways of the doggie culture. From the assumptions made about people based on a few daily moments of interaction to more in-depth friendships, this book accurately captures many of the moments that we share with our furry companions in search of exercise and socialization. An enjoyable read.

Just a ok read. Love dog stories unfortunately this one was just ok.

Thank you, Matthew, for allowing me to know you better, and appreciate you so much more, through this very tender observation of how Toby changed you and your life. Nicely done.
