I believe this is the best pictorial explanation of anatomy I have ever come across. I never compared the text of Gray's Anatomy to Clinically Oriented Anatomy but pictures are bigger and much much clearer in this book compared to COA. I believe to use as a reference book for the practice of medicine, as a physician, this is a great book. I apologize that i am not able to evaluate this book from view point of preparation of exams.

The student consult is helpful and the book contains a lot of useful information, but is poorly organized. Made reading and studying much more difficult than necessary.The student consult is probably the best part about this book by far. It provides study questions, an electronic copy of the book, and more. I used the student consult many times to assist my learning and think I would have been lost without it. One of my favorite things to do with the electronic book was screenshot the pictures and put them into a review guide document so that I wouldn't have to have the book out to study.The book has the weirdest organization I've seen for a book. It jumped around a lot within chapters and made things harder to understand. It often took a good bit of searching for me to find the information I was looking for despite it being mentioned briefly pages before. As a student, I was taking more than just an anatomy course, and it was very frustrating to have to spend excess time and energy than should have been required on trying to find the information I needed.

looks so beautiful cover to cover! amazing colors that are comfortable to the eye, many many pictures to understand, neatly organized, I would recommend this to any medical student, it's a top choice. I received the book in an excellent condition.

I ordered this book and thought it looked a bit smaller than expected. Come to find out during our extremity block that half of the lower leg portion was missing and ALL of head and neck was not there.... How can you rent out a book without entire chapters?

Initially bought this book for PT school. It's quite substantial. Most definitely one of the books I do not plan to sell after I am done with the program. Would recommend.

Gray's is a classic in the world of anatomy. Great practice for CRNA school. Some of my professor's quiz questions come right out of here. I'd recommend!

Very helpful book when it comes to studying for both written and practical human anatomy exams. Get it.

This cookbook on challah, babka, bagels, rugelach, hamantaschen, pita, matzah, and related things like dip is possibly my favorite cookbook of the year. Even though it's a "niche" cookbook. The range of flavors and possibilities presented within the context of Jewish bread baking is staggering. Should I make the buffalo blue cheese babka first, or the S'mores babka, or the birthday cake babka? What about the harissa and goat cheese rugelach versus the rye crust hamantaschen with grape jelly filling? Honestly, every single recipe in this book is something I'm eager to make (and eat/serve to friends & family). That's pretty rare -- I usually think a cookbook is exciting when I catch myself marking every few recipes.Shannon's instructions on bread baking, particularly her excellent diagrams on braiding, filling, etc, make this accessible even to the novice bread baker, while there's plenty here to learn for more experienced bread bakers. Her instructions are concise but thorough and so far the one recipe I've tried - everything bagel challah - yielded a delicious, flavorful, tender bread that I've eaten entirely too much of.I'm really thrilled with this cookbook and I can't wait to keep baking/eating more from Shannon's genius book.

I normally do not leave reviews because I just don't have time, but I love this cookbook so much I feel compelled. I am a military spouse who saw this book being discussed on a site. It piqued my interest because I love Challah but have never baked it myself. From the moment this book arrived I have not been disappointed. The pictures and recipes are wonderful. They are easy to follow, and the tips given are great. I am also a homeschooler, and my daughter and I have been baking and learning as we go. I highly recommend!!!!!

I really, really, really enjoyed this cookbook. So much so that I ran out of library renewals and purchased a copy for myself.The recipes are easy, everything tasted amazing, and they all come out looking very impressive.I only gave it four stars however, for a couple of reasons. One, the recipes all require way more sugar than I'm comfortable using, use a lot of yeast, and have extremely long rise times. Two, it would be nice if the book included prep times and serving sizes.But - the flavor combinations are delicious whether following the recipe exactly or using as inspiration to combine with your own dough recipes. I love this book.

I have tried out several of the recipes, and come out really well with all of them. I am so glad I found this book, and have already recommended it to friends. Recipes are well thought out and generally easy to follow. There are useful pictures for the more confusing processes

I’ve been making challah for years and found Modern Jewish Baker to provide me with permission to play with my baking! Shannon’s recipes are inventive, fun, and truly inspiring. The work she is doing to preserve Jewish recipes and make them new again is exemplary and so necessary. The recipes in this book are fun, easy to follow, and truly made for a modern baker. The best feature? A guide on what to do with leftovers for nearly every recipe!

Obsessed with all these recipes! The step by step photos are truly helpful especially with the babka, since I've failed at making that before and the different challah braids! The flavor combinations are fun and exciting and I love the inspirational stories she has for the recipes. Planning on buying this book for all my food-loving friends!

This book really taught me how to bake bread. The pictures are gorgeous and really showed me how to braid like an expert. The recipes are both classic and original. The best part is the confidence the recipes have given me to experiment with my own flavor ideas! I love this cookbook so much I've bought copies for all of the bakers in my family.

Most chapters include a Summary and an Important Facts to Remember section. Every term is clearly defined from the simplest shot description to more specific editing terms like a "J" or "L cut. The book examines the basics of the hardware and software used for nonlinear editing. Then it discusses how to edit and includes a basic exercise with video footage and a script on the included cdrom. The exercise creates a rough cut which the authors then use for a second exercise where they demonstrate how you can polish this by trimming and by overlapping edits. (I would like to have seen their edited version included on the cdrom.) Next is an extensive section on developing a workflow for various types of projects from commercials to feature lengths. This is followed by a chapter on organization and storage of media, and chapters on identifying shots, using effectsand titles, and inputs and outputs. The book closes with a cross reference of editing terms and keyboard shortcuts used in different software applications. (I wish this was in an Excel or Word file on the cdrom!) The book could use more illustrations since the authors are continually describing visual techniques with few graphics and no additional images on the cdrom. There is an excellent appendix of Films To Watch that lists scenes from movies with particular aspects of editing that are showcased. For example: The Birds, edited by George Tomasino. Watch the gas station attack for an example of rhythm in editing. [Publisher's note: 5 cows is the max.]A "complete creative and technical guide" for editing digital video seems like an overly ambitious concept. It is surprising how well the authors manage to accomplish it. The goal of the book, stated in the 2nd paragraph is "to teach anyone, amateurs or professionals, how to edit on any digital video editing system and achieve results." As a first primer -- not superficial but focused on the introductory basics, this book makes a very good attempt in achieving that goal. While I filled the margins with notes on what I thought was left out, or opinions I did not necessarily agree with, I was surprised at the concepts I could not stop thinking about when I finished this book. It will now have a prominent, handy place on my bookshelf -- a treatment that most professional editing books do not get. I know this will make a handy reference and will be re-read more than once. . . The book comes with a CD-ROM that is compatible with most editing systems, and offers step-by-step instructions using the source material when teaching basic concepts. The first chapter deals with basic concepts and defines editing, describes the hardware and software basics, and the concept of workflow. Oddly, the concept of offlining is not mentioned in describing workflows. This chapter describes why the term "Digital Video Editing" is used throughout the book instead of "Nonlinear Editing" (a distinction which I personally do not agree with) and offers six universal principles of "digital video editing" as part of the definition. . . The next chapter follows with the basics of today's digital video editing system and examines the GUI desktop design aspects. The authors do a very good job balancing the amountof content and detail for the beginner. Small things I was troubled about was that they left out a reference to SDTI connections while they included SDI and HD-SDI in their discussion on connectivity standards. They also left out pen And tablet when discussing the human interface tools, although I was pleased that they discussed the ergonomics as it related to left-handed editors. Overall, it was a complete and effective lesson. . . Chapter 3, "Beginnings, Middles and Ends" is my favorite chapter. Not only does it start with teaching editing, but it makes a very good introductory effort to communicate the aesthetic concepts involved with the craft of editing. It starts appropriately with the tradition of storytelling and goes on to discuss different editing workflows (bricklayer vs. sculptor), the concept of the montage, techniques for continuity editing, Pace and Rhythm, and offers "Five Guidelines of Editing." Then the book continues with a focus on polishing the program (trimming and audio -- Chapter 4) and goes on to Chapter 5 "Styles and Workflows" -- another excellent chapter. . . "Styles and Workflows" starts with the question "What's Technique?," goes on to a training component, and then analyzes different styles and workflows including Music Videos, Commercials (analyzing different types), Documentary and Nonfiction (scripted and non-scripted), and Fiction. I found myself going back and reading this chapter several times. . . The next chapter focused on media asset management, including ingesting, logging and both project and bin management. This is followed by another lesson in visual grammar (compositional issues, types of shots, point of view, etc.) and goes intoaspect ratios and the creation of subclips. Chapter 8 discusses clip effects, color issues, rendering, and timeline effects. Chapter 9 continues by discussing graphics, titling and compositing including the various key types and DVE effects creation issues such as perspective and keyframing. . . Chapter 10, "Getting It In and Out "is the most technical chapter in the book, and the most uneven. It goes into various ways to set up a picture monitor and yet it never discusses a waveform monitor and uses the word vectorscope just once without explaining it. It does a good job with audio and defining codecs, and does an excellent job with EDLs and its evolution to the AAF metadata standard. . . The last chapter, Chapter 11, is an excellent cross-reference of editing terminology as used by the various manufacturers and also offers a keyboard shortcut cross reference. This could be worth the cost of the book for freelancers that need to go from system to system and for instructors that have students asking how to do something on their home editor. . . The book finishes off with a valuable set of appendixes. The first, is "Films to Watch" listing not only the films but scenes to watch for to learn editing techniques, including advanced editing, comedy editing, sound editing and documentary editing. It also lists Eddie Award nominees from 1934 to 2001. Appendix B is a list of "Resources" including magazines, books, and internet resources. (There is no mention of Bob Turner's THE CUT, so it is obviously an incomplete reference!) It ends with an extensive list of manufacturers with descriptions and contact information. Appendix C is a script for the CD-ROM exercise. . . There weresmall points I disagreed with and some sections that were not as strong as others, but overall I was amazed at not only how much was covered in a single book, but at how valuable the information was that was provided. . . With these reservations stated, I recommend this book. I can see it as a text source for video editing instructors, and for anyone that wants to get started in the craft of editing. .

Although more than 10 years old, this book gives excellent advice on work flow and does not focus on the details of any particular video editing system. The basic principles of digital video editing have not changed all that much, even though the software has.The only Cons I have regarding this book:1) it is a bit dated2) there is no way to get a copy of the video files on the CD which is included with the paper back edition.

This is a video editors handbook. Rather you're a beginner or an expert, this book is definitely beneficial. It breaks down all of the technical terms and how to's, from before you start editing to how you export it. You can also get a hands on approach by doing the exercise with the cd that is included. I highly recommend this Editing Digital Video book for anyone who wants to know the basics or needs a reference to look back at.

Good book, but you need a software program that will work for you.

My bad, I overlooked that the book was published in 2003; in the tech world it is an antique. Some good pointers but very dated.

I wanted a book more 'how-to' oriented toward splicing, adding sound, captions etc., but this book is more 'artistically' oriented.

I bought this book because I thought it was a good starting point and aproach to video editing. But it's a little to much saying "The Complete Technical Guide".The printing quality is very poor. When I saw the preview images at Amazon I though they where digitized in low resolution, well, they where printed in low res... in a few cases the font size changes along the page, like in bad photocopies.This book has 360pages which could be easily reduced to 180 with proper formating and discarding information like movie titles, company adresses and websites (?), it would be pratical a single link to a webpage gathering all links to the companies they refer, and others on the way.If you aren't sure, there are better options. Unless it has 50% off... serious considering return it.

Editing digital video gave me a good insight into the baiscs of digital editing. The last time I edited video it was on a linear system and I found some other texts a little confusing. This book enabled me to use my NLE system with confidence.
