Grey Villet beautifully captured the Lovings' story for all of the world to see. These two people, who simply wanted the freedom to love one another, became American heroes by courageously standing for what was right, deemed by God, and blessed by the Almighty as well. Each image shows the reverence they held for each other. Their love, respect and admiration was brilliantly illuminated in every gaze, every touch, every image. What an extraordinary gift - to be loved and to love like that!

Life is difficult without the ugliness of others getting in the mix. Two loving humans making the best out of their lives. Great book. Thank you.

True story and perfectly cast. Can't think of one negative thing except it's too bad the Supreme Court arguments weren't included.

In 1959 a couple with different skin pigments get married. Turns out that in their home state of Virginia it is illegal and the get arrested. They actually plead guilty and then their case works its way through the legal system. During that time a photographer visits their home to record photographs of their existence at home and the race track. B/W images, insightful.

I think this book will be very helpful for the health concious people. We've been trying recipes from this for several days now and everything we try comes out great. Recipes are simple and many required ingredients already in my kitchen. This cookbook is recommended to anyone interested in cooking easy healthy meals. It will be the best book in 2019.

The first chapter is breakfast recipes and the first listed recipe is "Stuffed Baked Potatoes". The first four recipes are clearly dinner recipes. The back of the book list 14 recipe titles and not one of those recipes is in the book. I don't believe that the Freestyle point calculation is correct on many of the recipes. Also not that it is necessary, but it sure does help....there are ZERO pictures of the recipes in this book. In my opinion not worth the money.

This book has a pack of extraordinary recipes that anybody will appreciate. It doesn't appear as though it is diet sustenance. The meals are simple, don't include outlandish ingredients. I love this cookbook.

Okay, I'm gonna admit something here! I have a man-crush on Neil deGrasse Tyson. It's hard not to like anyone who is so knowledgeable and passionate about their chosen field, and when that field is something I am fascinated with myself, well... man-crush. You may have one as well by the time you finish this autobiography! NDT writes in a very personable, easygoing style that is instantly endearing. The way NDT shares his love for astronomy will likely kindle an interest in you by the time you're done reading, if you didn't have any beforehand.The book is over far too soon, but that's not due to any flaw in the book; you just want to spend more time learning more about NDT and his story. That the reader is so entertained that he or she is left wanting to spend more time reading what the author writes is the surest sign of a successful book of any kind, in my eyes.

This is a fantastic, but all too brief autobiography of perhaps the greatest current science popularizer. Tyson discusses his early childhood experiences getting hooked on astronomy after a family trip to a planetarium, despite living in the light-polluted big city. He shares some hilarious personal stories, as well as some balanced, thoughtful discussions on touchy subject of race, which come across as informative, personal, and matter-of-fact. There are only two complaints to be made about his book, one, that it is too short! Tyson is a charming, humorous storyteller, and I read this book in two nights and was left wanting more, and two, there is not one single embarrassing baby picture or awkward teenager with bad hair photo in the book! Bottom line, buy this book for yourself, but more importantly, buy this book for your young teens, or watch his new version of Cosmos and read this book at bedtime to your younger children. Inspirational, informative, and thoroughly enjoyable no matter what age, skin tone, education level...just get this book!

Neil deGrasse Tyson has the unique ability to talk personally and autobiographically without flaunting his ego. It is inspiring to know a man who expresses his gratitude for a wonderful family background and loving home by giving so much to the world. His courage in defense of science is also so valuable now when knowledge and understanding is under attack.

I read anything Neil deGrasse Tyson writes and see him on television every chance I get. This book is particularly interesting because he relates who he is and how he became an astrophysicist, a role which he picked for himself. I especially appreciate people who think for themselves and do their own thing, regardless of what others think and would dissuade him from pursuing his own dream.Another great attribute of Tyson is that he is so smart, but at the same time admits he doesn't know everything, and I appreciate that because I want to know everything (of course, I don't), but the desire is the willingness to learn - a trait I think we share. Plus he has a great sense of humor!

This book is a combination of Neil's life story with a more in-depth version of his science advocacy, too. I enjoyed the stories, and I appreciate all the work he does to get students and the general public engaged in science. I felt like I was seeing astrophysics "through his eyes" by the descriptions and details he included. A good read, and highly relatable since my background is in applied mathematics and physics. I found myself smiling a lot while reading it, except for some of the more emotional stories - which he is somehow able to write with a positive outlook despite the tragedy surrounding him while living in New York during 9/11.A few oddities: the captions in the kindle version are jumbled, and misspelled. Also, paragraph breaks on the kindle were sporadic. I'd doubt the original text contained any of those errors. I still enjoyed the read :)

About the Author

Bill J. Leonard holds the James and Marilyn Dunn Chair of Baptist Studies at the Wake Forest University School of Divinity where he was the founding dean. In 2010 he retired as dean but continued to teach church history in the divinity school and the religion department of the university.Prior to joining the faculty of Wake Forest in 1996, Leonard served as Professor of Church History at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, 1975 . While there he was for a time Associate Dean, president of the Faculty Association, editor of the Review and Expositor, and W. W. Brooks Professor of American Religion. From 1992 to 1996 he was Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. Leonard is the author or editor of some 15 books including The Nature of the Church; Word of God Across the Ages:Using Church History in Preaching; God’s Last and Only Hope:The Fragmentation of the Southern Baptist Convention; Appalachian Christianity:Profiles in Regional Pluralism; Baptist Ways:A History; and Baptists in America. His most recent books are Baptist Questions, Baptist Answers, and The Baptist Bible (co-editor), both published in 2009. Leonard is also the author of over 400 articles published in a variety of journals, periodicals and books.Dr. Leonard holds a BA from Texas Wesleyan College ), an MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary ), and a PhD from Boston University ).His spouse, Dr. Candyce Crew Leonard, is professor of Humanities at Wake Forest University with specialization in Spanish literature. I read this book for my Baptist Heritage class. It was very informative and clearly shows that Baptists throughout history were certainly not a homogeneous group.

Love this book! A must have!

This is a great rad but it is long and sometimes it feels like it drags on but it really helps you learn the history of the Baptists.

I received the book in excellent conditons.

Bill Leonard's writing on Baptist history is the standard. His research is irrefutable and his writing style is wonderfully approachable for both academics and laymen.

This is a very detailed extensive history about Baptists. Everything is covered going back to our start in England. How we evolved into all the different Baptist groups and missionary starts as well.

I loved this book honestly. It was super helpful in my degree and helped me learn a lot. I like the way the book is set up, which makes it easy to read and understand. But it didn't come in the condition it said it was. I bought it used which you can expect maybe a little wear because someone else used it but the seller said it was in perfect condition or like new. It was definitely far from. It was usable but the pages were super bent. It had writing in it all over, and a lot was highlighted. I would have preferred they said what it actually was like. I wanted to return it because it was frustrating to me that they lied but i needed it for school so i couldn't without missing homework.

Just what I needed for my class. Most of the content to me is common sense information, however these days common sense isn't so common. The lay out of the content is well thought out and easy to follow me

Fast shipping, good quality. There’s some wear on it, but nothing that affects it’s readability. Nice price, my college wanted a lot of money for this so I checked here and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Instead of buying something you’re only going to use once, why not rent it?

It was useful, interesting, it was required for the class but it was not in good condition. Must be treated carefully. I’m thankful for the opportunity to rent although I will be stocking materials that I won’t be reading again.

Konan's images of flowers are wonderful, accurate in detail but artistic in feeling, and each one in this book is a delight to linger over. Interest in the "outside world" was high in early 20th Century Japan. Tanigami Konan was a renowned artist who, in 1917, began to produce a series of prints to illustrate varieties of exotic flowers, especially those of the Western world, in a traditional Japanese format. The prints were received with great enthusiasm and acclaim, and they're still sought after by collectors. Leave it to Dover Books, one of the best in the business, to offer such a modestly-priced book with so many beautiful reproductions of Konan's prints. Buy it for yourself. Buy it for a gift. It's perfectly lovely.

I associate most Japanese woodblock prints with artists like Hiroshige who concentrated on landscapes, street scenes and figures. This is the first book I've seen on the subject of flowers and they are breathtaking; striking composition and colors. A true inspiration for floral artists. The reproduction is excellent; the paper is thick and the colors are true. A real bargain.

Only the Japanese artists develop such a powerful style The briliant or subtle coloring, depending on the plant. is always suitable for the variety pictured.

It is amazing to me how beautifully detailed and nuanced these prints are, having bee carved on and printed from, woodblocks. They are lovely, and inspiring!
